He continued his graduate studies at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, earning his medical degree in 1974. After serving his internship and residency for Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut Hospitals from 1974 to 1977, he served as a Research Fellow and Clinical Instructor for Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Boston University Medical Center from 1977 to 1979.
